Os números falam por si e são esmagadores. O dinamarquês Claus Larsen, que começou a compor música eletrónica aos 14 anos, fundou o projeto LEÆTHER STRIP em 1988, então com 21. Nas mais de três décadas de carreira, o conceituado projeto de EBM, electro e techno-industrial colocou no mercado cerca de 150 edições, entre álbuns, singles, EP’s e compilações, o que conferiu a LEÆTHER STRIP o estatuto de banda lendária, tornando-a, simultaneamente, numa das mais influentes e referenciadas dentro do(s) género(s). Mas se tudo isto já impressiona, então o que dizer das mais de 230 remixes que assinou para temas de bandas como Christian Death, Psychic TV, The Damned, Front 242, Gary Numan, Die Krupps, Suicide Commando, Nitzer Ebb, Project Pitchfork, VNV Nation ou Ministry? Além disso, as suas inúmeras versões leætherstripeanas de clássicos de Bjork, Killing Joke, Depeche Mode, Misfits, Billy Idol, Duran Duran, DAF, Krafwerk, Grauzone, Coil, Fad Gadget, Sex Pistols, Soft Cell, The Cure, PJ Harvey, The Clash, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Tom Waits, Rammstein e Dead Can Dance revelam a sua versatilidade e criatividade como produtor. O currículo de Larsen é de facto estratosférico e a tudo isto podemos juntar ainda o álbum The Solitary Confinement que LEÆTHER STRIP editou em 1992, considerado por muitos como o melhor disco de EBM/electro industrial da história, o “santo graal” dos mais devotados aficionados. Com um legado tão rico, não é de surpreender que a estreia ao vivo em Portugal seja motivo de celebração entre todos os fãs da banda em particular e entre todos os entusiastas da música alternativa em geral. The numbers speak for themselves and are overwhelming. Danish musician Claus Larsen began composing electronic music at the age of 14 and founded the LEÆTHER STRIP project in 1988, when he was 21. Over the past three decades, the project has released approximately 150 editions, including albums, singles, EPs, and compilations, solidifying its status as a legendary band and one of the most influential within the EBM, electro, and techno-industrial genres. But Larsen’s impact extends far beyond LEÆTHER STRIP‘s own discography. He has also created over 230 remixes for renowned bands such as Christian Death, Psychic TV, The Damned, Front 242, Gary Numan, Die Krupps, Suicide Commando, Nitzer Ebb, Project Pitchfork, VNV Nation, and Ministry. Additionally, his uncountless leætherstripean versions of classics by Bjork, Killing Joke, Depeche Mode, Misfits, Billy Idol, Duran Duran, DAF, Krafwerk, Grauzone, Coil, Fad Gadget, Sex Pistols, Soft Cell, The Cure, PJ Harvey, The Clash, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Tom Waits, Rammstein, and Dead Can Dance reveal his versatility and creativity as a producer.. Furthermore, the album The Solitary Confinement, released by LEÆTHER STRIP in 1992, is considered by many to be the best EBM/industrial electro record of all time and a “holy grail” for the band’s most devoted followers. With such a rich legacy, it’s no wonder that the live debut of this remarkable act in Portugal is cause for celebration among all fans of the band in particular and alternative music enthusiasts in general.
